The Lilies Project sponsored training for eight peer-to-peer individuals in hopes of expanding mental health support in the Southeastern Stokes County area.
When we hosted the US Civil Rights Commission at the Walnut Cove Public Library in 2016, one of the recommendations from the panel was to provide mental health support for individuals living in coal ash impacted communities. Facing such a monumental task of just cleaning up the coal ash, I was skeptical that would ever happen. However, Mary Lee started the Sid Lee Mental Health Association after the death of her son Sid by suicide. It was important for our organization to support it’s success. We also sponsored a mural inside of the facility and painting the art room with chalk paint.
Please take advantage of these rich resources that this organization is providing to our community.
